I posted a series of pictures which I collectively am calling "The Death of America?" Please note the question mark at the end of the title as it has significance! I am using my artistic license in this series which I think it is important to note because I had no intention of desecrating the flag in any way. This is merely a political statement for which I am protected under my First Amendment rights to do. I understand that there is "Federal Flag Code" with guidelines for how to respect the flag and I also understand that the First Amendment rights that I have as an American allow me the freedom to make a political statement regardless of what the code says. With all that being said let me now make this statement:

I love my country. I love that I have the freedom to bear arms, the freedom of speech, the freedom of expression and the freedom to come and go as I please. Unfortunately, I believe that the loss of some of these freedoms, if not all of them, is a likely scenario if we continue down the political path that we seem to be on! It doesn't seem to matter if you are a Republican or a Democrat, the choices are not good.

The blood that is shed by our brave military men and women in suspect wars that are waged can no longer be justified by the actions of a handful of politicians who are sponsored by the profiteers of war:
  • General Dynamics. > Arm sales 2012: $20.9 billion. > Total sales 2012: $31.5 billion. ...
  • Raytheon. > Arm sales 2012: $22.5 billion. ...
  • BAE Systems. > Arm sales 2012: $26.9 billion. ...
  • Boeing. > Arm sales 2012: $27.6 billion. ...
  • Lockheed Martin. > Arm sales 2012: $36 billion.

Make no mistake. These corporations make their most profits when we are at war. They pay lobbyists to pay Congressmen and women millions of dollars to sponsor bills that benefit a wartime status but can't come up with any money for the deprogramming of our troops when they come home. Shameful!

So....We now celebrate the 4th of July. A Holiday that celebrates the final wording of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Most of us know the significance of this day. For some of us it's all about a day off of work and hot dogs and fireworks displays. However you feel about this day and whatever you think it stands for there is one certainty, one word that you will hear mentioned frequently. That word is FREEDOM! Now we just need to use our freedom properly. We have the freedom to elect our government officials and yet how many of us can say we exercise that right? Sure, many of us will vote in the Presidential elections this year, but are you happy with your choices? Many of our political leaders slip through the cracks and rise to a level of incompetency because "We the People" are not paying enough attention at the local levels so these money grubbing so called representatives of the people gain so much power eventually that they can't be stopped.

Now back to my photo set. The young ladies name is Athena and she was aware of this theme before we shot it. Her bloodied body represents the American people and the flag represents our country. Our people are being killed and bloodied for religious beliefs and many times by sick individuals who had the means and the opportunity and just committed a random act of violence with no apparent logical reason. Our country (our politicians) turn a blind eye and in many cases proliferate and exacerbate tensions both domestically and abroad for their own financial gains with no regard for the lives of our children that we send into harms way.

This may be "The Death of America" as we know it. At least I still have the freedom to post these photos and the freedom of speech to express my views. Thanks for reading my rant and I hope the pictures make you think a little about the direction we seem to be headed as a country.
